Who we are

What we collect
When you donate we collect your name, email address, and optionally your phone number, city, state and country, together with the amount, the designation you chose and the date. If you sponsor a child in someone else's name, we also collect that person's name, the occasion and, if you provide it, a date.
If you register as a member we collect your name, email address, phone number, city and any photo you upload. If you register for an event we collect your name, email address, phone number, address and any remarks you add. If you contact us we keep your message.
Payment card information
We do not store card numbers. Your card number, expiry date and security code are transmitted directly to Authorize.Net, our payment processor, and are never written to our database. We retain only the last four digits of the card and the transaction or subscription reference returned by the gateway, so that we can identify your gift and answer questions about it.
How we use your information
To process your gift and any recurring payments you have set up, to send you a receipt and your certificate, to keep the financial and tax records a nonprofit is required to keep, to run your member account if you have one, and to contact you about the work you have supported.
We do not sell your information. We do not share it with anyone except the service providers listed below, and where the law requires it.
Receipts and other messages are sent through Mandrill, a Mailchimp Transactional service. Please be aware that these emails are sent with open tracking and click tracking enabled, which means we and Mandrill can see whether a message was opened and whether a link in it was clicked. If you would prefer not to be tracked this way, tell us and we will note it on your record.
Your certificate link
Every donation certificate is reachable at a private web address containing a long random token. The link is not listed anywhere and cannot reasonably be guessed, but it does not require a password. Anyone you forward it to will be able to see the certificate, which shows your name, the amount and the date. Treat the link as you would a receipt.
Member directory
If you register as a member, other approved members can see your name, city and photo in the member directory. Your email address, phone number and donation history are never shown to other members.
Cookies
We use a single session cookie, set only when you log in to a member or administrator account. It keeps you signed in and protects forms against cross-site request forgery. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies.
Third parties
Authorize.Net processes card payments. Mandrill (Mailchimp) delivers our email. Bootstrap and Font Awesome are loaded from the jsDelivr and Cloudflare CDNs, and our typeface is loaded from Google Fonts. Because those files are fetched by your browser, those providers receive your IP address and basic request information whenever you view a page. Each provider has its own privacy policy.
How long we keep it
Donation and receipt records are kept for as long as US tax and charity record-keeping rules require, and normally longer, because donors ask us for historic receipts. Member accounts are kept until you ask us to close them. Contact messages are kept while they are useful.
Your choices
Write to contact@ntrfoundationusa.org to see what we hold about you, correct it, close a member account, stop a recurring gift, or ask us to delete information we are not required to keep. We will confirm your identity before acting on a request.
Children
This website is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. The children supported by our programs are never identified on this site.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page.
